The proper installation of gutters

The main points when designing a gutter system is the question about how to equip the gutter system, something that must be decided at the construction design stage. Remember that when performing our calculations, we should always be guided by the requirements of the current SNiPa 2.04.01-85.   • Having made a copy of the roof design, draw a drawing of the location of the drainage elements.
  • Calculate the total area of ​​the roof and all its slopes separately, taking into account the adjacent vertical walls.
  • Based on the indication of the intensity of rainfall in the area, determine the performance of the system.
  • According to the values ​​obtained, determine the diameter of the assembled bottom pipes, the number and cross section of the drainage hoppers, as well as their frequency along the wall of the building.

The result should be a system that is capable of collecting and draining the maximum amount of liquid.

During the design stage, it is important to determine the position of the lifts, so that they do not violate the external composition. They are most often placed in the corners of our buildings, but it is quite acceptable to equip them in a place created by the window bay.

The components of the roof gutter system

The gutter system consists of two groups of parts, the horizontal and the vertical drainage parts. Together they are almost about twelve types of building blocks, each of which performs the task assigned to it.
The structural elements of the sewerage system are:

  • drain pipes – key operating system components designed to carry masses of water from the roof
  • gutters – narrow water collection and redirection channels

When building a gutter system on large sloping roofs, additional guide rails are installed. Their main purpose of them is to reduce the flow rate of the water along the surface of the roof. The shape of the gutters and brackets can be any.
